Ukraine: concern for heritage

Country's heritage at risk of looting and destruction.

Blue Shield, the international body tasked with the safety of cultural and historical heritage, has expressed ‘deep concern’ regarding the protection of Ukraine’s heritage, the buildings that house them and the people that look after them.  Damage to the Kiev History Museum has already been reported.

The International Committee of the Blue Shield (ICBS) comprises five NGOs working in the cultural sector, including IFLA (The International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions).  The Blue Shield is the emblem of the Hague Convention for the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict.
