The value of academic libraries - new JISC report

A new JISC Collections report explores the role of university libraries in helping institutions fulfil their research and teaching mission.

In times of budget constraints it is important that institutional libraries have access to evidence about their impact and value.

The new report, UK Scholarly Reading and the Value of Library Resources, highlights how scholarly reading helps academics  to improve their research results and supports them in developing new ideas and thinking. The report describes the critical role that libraries have in helping academics to identify and access journal articles to help them in their research.

Over 1000 academics and associate staff in six UK universities were canvassed for the report.   University libraries are helping them access quality materials quickly.
