Calling All Libraries: Celebrate 1 Trillion Web Pages Archived with the Internet Archive

A trillion is a big number. Most libraries don't have collections that large, but the Internet Archive has now hit that momentous target of 1 trillion archived webpages.

In a blog post, Chris Freeland, Director of Library Services at Internet Archive, announced not only this grand achievement but also the availability of a new resource guide to help libraries join in commemorating a once-in-a-generation milestone. "This historic achievement represents a collective effort to preserve our shared digital history, and libraries have been at the heart of that work from the beginning. The resource guide provides background on why this milestone matters to libraries, highlights their role in safeguarding online knowledge, and offers ready-to-use materials to help libraries celebrate with their communities."

The guide provides many opportunities and suggestions for how libraries can join the celebration and tailor usage of the Wayback Machine and the Internet Archive to their individual situations.

If you adopt any of the resources in the guide at your library, do let us know! Email editor@infotoday.eu.
