Sweden: battle of the music apps

Sweden's own Spotify service is being challenged by other music apps.

In 2013 the Swedish firm Spotify announced that it had 24 million registered users – six million of them subscribed to the paid for service.  The firm has long dominated its home market in Sweden.

However, new competition is entering the Swedish marketplace.  French streaming company Deezer has agreed a deal with telephone company 3 to offer users one month’s free use of its service.

Google are already in the Swedish music streaming market and Apple is likely to follow soon.
