Spain: tweeter made to apologise

Twitter user to say 'sorry'.

A judge has punished a woman for posting offensive tweets about local politicians, their relatives and other people. The woman had been using the name 'Pizarro’s Mother' to insult Fernando Pizarro, the mayor of a Spanish town.

The mayor and the tweeter had reached an agreement which the judge upheld.  The woman will make a public apology on Twitter.

Twitter has been in the Spanish headlines recently. 17 people have been arrested for using the site to 'promote terrorism' and the government has asked the police to monitor the site to crack down on offensive content.
