Report reveals EU digital research stats

Overall EU lags behind US and Japan.


According to figures from the latest Digital Scorecard on ICT research funding in the EU, Sweden spends the most per head of population.  Germany, the UK, Spain and Sweden are the top four funders of ICT R&D.

Overall the EU is spending 6.6% of total government R&D support on ICT (compared to 9.1% in Japan; 7.9% in the US).

By 2020 the EU is planning to spend €11 billion of annual total public spending on ICT R&D.
