Microsoft's Streetside service in Germany

Microsoft's Streetside service is rolling out across Europe.

It seems that Microsoft has learnt from the problems that Google had in Europe with Streetview.  (Google admitted that personal data had been inadvertently collected during the development process.)  In October 2010 it was reported that more than 240,000 Germans had asked Google to remove their homes from Street View.

The Local is reporting that Microsoft's Streetside service has attracted only 90,000 such requests.  Microsoft has promised to protect the privacy of German citizens and says it plans to make the process by which people can request their property is blurred easy to use.
