Italy: government launches free WiFi app

Single log-in aims to make life simpler for tourists and residents alike.

The Italian government has released Wifi Italia, an app that allows users to quickly connect to a network of Wi-Fi hotspots.

The network has been launched in tourist hotspots including Bari, Milan, Rome and Tuscany and there are plans to broaden availability over the next few months.

The app is part of the government's digitalisation protocol aimed at improving digital services targeting tourists. Data analysis and user studies will help inform ongoing improvements.
