Germany: music videos on the web

Over 50% of internet users are watching music videos on the web.

Market research organisation Aris researched over 1000 people aged 14 and over in Germany on behalf of BITKOM.  They found that 54% are watching music videos on the web and concluded that 'the internet is the new MTV'.

The percentage of younger internet users watching music video clips was 85% while 51% of those aged 30-49 were doing so.  34% of those in the older age bracket researched (50-64) were watching music online.

Meanwhile, MTV has changed its programming featuring fewer music videos and moving into reality and other shows targeting a young audience.
