Europeana crowdsourced WWI project 'overwhelming success'

The First World War in Everyday Objects project has captured 15,000 digital images from members of the public in Germany.

Further to the call for public participation hundreds of people have already contributed WWI memorabilia to the online project and further participation days have been announced.

Items donated include field postcards, photos, diaries and a regimental grave cloth.  Many of the contributions have already been catalogued and are available to view at www.europeana1914-1918.eu

The First World War in Everyday Objects is a joint initiative of Europeana, the German National Library and Oxford University.
