The new Directive on Orphan Works will provide Europe's libraries, archives, broadcasters and other organisations with the appropriate legal framework to provide cross-border online access to the orphan works in their collections.
Common rules on access to and sharing of such orphan works are a key element of the EU's efforts to create a single digital economy.
