Charity begins at breakfast. SHR team raises almost £7,000 for charity

Sue Hill Recruitment has raised nearly £7000 for its nominated charities through contributions from attendees at its senior networking breakfasts and credit crunch lunches.

London  ()

Since Sue Hill Recruitment started their free senior networking breakfasts over three years ago they have asked delegates to donate to a nominated charity on the basis there is no such thing as a free breakfast!  Additionally, at the Credit Crunch Lunch series where help was given on self marketing, CV production and interview techniques by SHR team members, employed attendees were asked to donate a minimal sum which went directly to charity.

Where possible the aim has been for the nominated charity to tally with the things affecting Sue Hill Recruitment staff.   Thus when much missed Christine Crabtree was raising funds for a machine to reduce hair loss in chemotherapy the team rallied around to assist.  They were in awe of Chris and her efforts to walk up every hill in Wales.  Then Min Cong, now returned to her native China, had kidney problems so funds were raised for The British Kidney Patients Association.  For the last 18 months the SHR team asked for funds for CLIC Sargent Cancer Care for Children.  So many of the staff have recently had children (including one set of twins) that it seemed a good charity to support.

Additionally two team members raised funds independently.  Suzanne Wheatley ran the London and Edinburgh marathons and raised £876 for Eve Appeal in memory of Chris Crabtree and Lizzie Russell ran the London (twice), Edinburgh and Berlin marathons resulting in £1774.66 for National Autistic Society.

Everyone has been amazed at the extraordinary generosity of both clients and candidates and to date the amount raised is £6892.00   This includes gift aid refunds - it is so good that so many people donate in this way as no one wants to pay tax unnecessarily.

For 2011 the chosen charity for Sue Hill Recruitment fundraising will be MacMillan Cancer Support.
