Germany: increase in online seniors

Research shows 6% increase in 2014.


Research undertaken by BITKOM of 1000 Germans aged 65 years and older found that 38% of them are now online – up from 32% in 2013.    Of these 'online seniors' 52% said they felt the web had improved their quality of life. 

On average they are spending just under one hour per day online. The most popular digital activities undertaken by those aged 65:

  • Writing emails
  • Finding information
  • News
  • Accessing health information
  • Travel planning
  • Online shopping
