A partnership between the Center for Research Libraries (CRL) and the British Library (BL) will result in enhanced and expanded digitised content in the World Newspaper Archive.
The project will digitise historical news content from Africa, Latin America and South Asia.
Phase one of the project will focus on 19th century African newspapers in English, Afrikaans, Zulu and other languages. Holdings from the British Library will be supplemented by those held by partner libraries of the CRL, including the New York Public Library and Yale University.
Further project phases will cover newspaper content from South Asia and Latin America.
