US e-book revenues continue to rise

US publishers report that e-book revenues are higher than hardcover revenues.


E-book revenues have outstripped those of hardcover books for the first time in the US.

The figures (from the Association of American Publishers) for the first quarter of 2012 show that e-book revenues totalled $282m) compared to hardcover revenues of $230m.  Overall e-book sales had increased by over 28%. 

Sales of children's and young adult e-books increased by 233%.
