UK's Open Data White Paper

The publication of the White Paper coincides with the launch of a revamped website.

The UK government has published its Open Data White Paper, setting out its commitment to open and transparent government.

The White Paper outlines a commitment to provide public data for free whenever possible, and sets out the need for standardised publishing formats and single access points.  Every UK government department will produce its own open data strategy and release new statistics and data over the next year.

The website Data.Gov.UK has also been revamped.  Sam Leon of the Open Knowledge Foundation writes about the White Paper and explores the revamped website here.
