UK e-reader and tablet news

A growing number of UK retailers are to sell Barnes & Noble's Nook e-reader device.

The supermarket Sainsbury's (which currently sells the Kobo) will sell the Nook after its stock of Kobo is sold.  Waitrose is also to carry the Nook, joining such retailers as Argos, Blackwell's and PC World.

The company is also launching two new tablet devices - The seven-inch Nook HD (which will retail at £159, the same price as Amazon's HD Kindle Fire tablet) and the nine-inch Nook HD+ (£229).

The UK website (www.nook.co.uk) goes live in October.
