UK: e-books added to 'inflation basket'

ONS includes 'growing market' of e-books.

The UK's Office for National Statistics (ONS) has announced changes to the 'basket of goods' it uses to calculate the country's inflation rates.

The basket of goods is reviewed annually and provides an interesting snapshot of trends in consumer spending.

This year champagne has been removed from the basket as sales continue to fall in the UK.  E-books have been added because they represent 'a significant and growing market'.
