UK consults over Public Lending Right

DCMS is exploring options to transfer the administration of PLR.


The UK's Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) is consulting over plans to transfer the administration of Public Lending Right (PLR) in a bid to achieve efficiencies.

PLR enables authors to receive payment for loans of their books by public libraries.   There are various options for bodies who could take over PLR including Arts Council England, the British Library and the Authors' Licensing and Collecting Society.
