The European Commission inspects e-book publishers

Unannounced antitrust inspections held in e-book companies.

On 1 March 2011 Commission officials initiated unannounced inspections at the premises of e-book companies in several member states.

EU antitrust rules prohibit restrictive business practices.  Unannounced inspections are a preliminary step in the investigation of suspective anti-competitive practices but they do not mean any of the companies concerned are guilty of such behaviour.
