Task force on e-research competencies

Four professional associations collaborating on toolkit.

Four professional associations - The Association of Research Libraries (ARL), the Canadian Association of Research Libraries (CARL), the Confederation of Open Access Repositories (COAR), and the Association of European Research Libraries (LIBER) - have launched a joint task force to investigate developments in e-research and scholarly communications.

The report will focus on the new roles and services that libraries need to offer to reflect changes in research and scholarly communication, including research data management, virtual research environments, institutional repositories and new methods of research dissemination.

The task force will develop a toolkit for developing new competencies and organisational models.

The task force is expected to report in early 2014.
