Springer Nature launched the pilot of 'In Review' in October 2018.
The pre-publication platform aims to make submission, peer review and editorial processes more open to authors.
In Review provides authors with a detailed peer review timeline so they can track the status of their manuscript while it’s out for review. It also makes it easier for them to share it with the wider community earlier in the submission and peer review process.
The pilot was so popular that it the publisher saw an opt-in rate across titles of 55%.
The plan is to roll out the service across 50 BioMed Central series journals.
