Open Access in Hungary and Ireland

Two articles in Research Information provide updates on the progress of Open Access in Europe.

Hungary

The Hungarian Academy of Sciences (MTA) has issued an OA mandate for MTA researchers, employees and researchers in subsidised research units.  Researchers can self archive in institutional or discipline repositories or publish in OA or hybrid journals.  URLs of the Open Access versions of the publications should be entered to the Hungarian National Scientific Bibliography (MTMT) database.

The mandate affects papers submitted for publication from January 1 2013.

Ireland

Ireland's new OA policy states that publicly funded research should be made accessible and reusable no later than the formal publication date.  Researchers should also deposit their article metadata.

This policy is effective from January 2013.
