JISC to research OA scholarly monographs

JISC Collections announces new project on impact of OA publishing models.

The new JISC project, OAPEN-UK, will explore the publishing of scholarly monographs in the humanities and social sciences and identify the challenges and opportunities of open online access to monographs.

Funded by JISC and the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC), project partners include five academic publishers (Berg Publishers, Liverpool University Press, Palgrave Macmillan, Taylor & Francis and University Wales Press).  Data on sales and usage of works, comparing open access with 'traditional' routes to market, will be gathered over three years.  The outputs will provide evidence of the impact of different access models.
