IFLA Congress call for papers

A number of calls for papers for the IFLA Congress, to be held in Finland in 2012, have been announced.


The 2012 IFLA (International Federation of Library Associations) Congress is to be held in Helsinki, Finland August 11-17.  A number of calls for papers have been published including:

Usability and accessibility: the mobile challenge:

  • experiences with using mobile devices to increase the reach of library services
  • innovations in web/mobile integration
  • integrating accessibility and usability in mobile device services delivery

Marketing library and information services:

  • Changing marketing concepts
  • Marketing library and information services (MLIS) in different countries and kinds of libraries
  • Education, training and research
  • Web based marketing

Information literacy meets e-learning:

  • Has E-learning enabled libraries to extend their reach to new populations, or provided their existing population with new services and fresh possibilities for learning?
  • While online tutorials are mainly used in the academic environment for large populations of students, what strategies have been introduced in public libraries to encourage lifelong E-learning?
  • Are there any advantages in teaching information literacy skills using a virtual learning environment (VLE) or course management systems (such as Moodle, Blackboard, WebCT) in a blended learning context?
