Green libraries: IFLA announces award winners

The IFLA Green Library Award, sponsored by De Gruyter Publishing, was established in 2016.

This year, 32 submissions were received from around the world, including Argentina, India, Ivory Coast, Pakistan, the Philippines, Romania and Ukraine.

The submissions were reviewed by a diverse team, including library professionals, LIS students and an architect.

The winner of the 2018 IFLA Green Library Award is Foshan Library in Guangdong, China.

The reviewers acknowledge the green environment in which the library is situated; the green design of the actual building; the green approach to library operations; and the library’s role in advocating for environmental protection in the wider world.
