Google tools for Competitive Intelligence

Research highlights the most popular Google tools used in Competitive Intelligence and suggests that practitioners might be unaware of the range of tools available.

Research from Spanish Competitive Intelligence (CI) experts Miniera explores how information users utilise 24 of Google's free research tools.

Over 300 information users working in a range of sectors around the world were surveyed with respondents from Europe forming the largest group (47.5%).

The results show that, unsurprisingly, Google Search is by far the most popular research tool, with Alert, News, Reader and Maps forming the top five.

However, some Google research tools were either under-utilised or unknown.  These include Google Squared, News Timeline, Public Data Explorer, Real Time and Moderator.
