Global mobile advertising growth continues

Continued growth facilitated by smartphones ownership.

Latest figures from the Internet Advertising Bureau (IAB) show that the mobile advertising market grew by 82.8% in 2012.  2012 revenues reached $8.9 billion/€6.9 billion.

The largest increases were experienced in north America (up 111%) and western Europe (up 91%).  Asia Pacific still leads the way when it comes to total mobile advertising revenues.

The report shows significant differences in preferred format between regions.  Messaging advertising is much more popular in Latin America (with almost 67% of the region’s total revenues) while search-based advertising leads the way in western Europe at 60%.
