Germany’s G+J invests in digital

German publisher Gruner+Jahr is planning to invest heavily in online expansion.

Germany – Europe’s biggest print media market – is experiencing a decline in circulation and advertising revenue of traditional magazine and newspapers.

Nielsen Media Research shows that newspaper advertising revenue in Germany’s newspapers declined over 11% in the second quarter of 2013.

Gruner+Jahr (G+J), the publisher of Stern magazine amongst other titles, is planning to invest heavily in digital content over the next 3-5 years.  Similar moves have been made other German media groups, including Axel Springer.
