Germany: De Gruyter buys two academic publishers

De Gruyter has acquired two Germany academic publishers.


The publishing company De Gruyter has acquired the Berlin-based Akademie Verlag and the Munich-based Oldenburg Wissenschaftsverlag from Franz Cornelsen Bildungsgruppe.

The lists of the acquired companies cover business, history, philosophy and the natural sciences.  The combined backlists include 4,000 titles.

De Gruyter has stated it plans to invest in digitisation programmes.
