France: resolution in Google row

Agreement to help France's news media 'adapt to the digital age'.

Google and French news publishers have reached a resolution in the dispute over shares of advertising revenue.  The French news websites had wanted a share of revenue earned by Google from linking to the content.  Instead, Google will set up a €60 million fund to help French media companies to develop online projects and increase their own online revenue streams.

A similar deal has been reached in Belgium, while editors in several other European countries have also complained about the inequity of revenue generation.
