Facebook losing younger users

In the USA the youth market for Instagram and Snapchat continues to grow and Facebook loses out.


The latest research from eMarketer predicts that Facebook will lose over 3% of US 12-17 year olds in 2017.

Meanwhile it predicts over 25% growth for Snapchat in the US (19% for users aged 18-24) in 2017.  Snapchat’s share of the US social network market is predicted to rise to over 40%.

Younger users who remain on Facebook are logging in less frequently and spending less time there.  They are, however, still engaging with (the Facebook-owned) Instagram.
