Facebook in France – privacy concerns

Facebook ordered to stop tracking non-members without consent.

Following a similar move made by the Belgian Privacy Commissioner in 2015, the French data protection body CNIL has given Facebook three months to change its tracking policy in France.  It has also demanded that Facebook stops transferring some personal data to the US.

Facebook tracks everyone who visits its site by installing cookies. In Belgium, visitors to Facebook must now log on before they can view any pages.

Failure to comply could result in a fine.
