Europeans and 'video news'

A study conducted in eight countries reports that 72% of European web users download or watch online news video.

In research conducted by the Online Publishers Association, Europe in partnership with Ipsos MediaCT, users in eight European countries* were questioned about their use of online video content.

The research gave a broad definition of 'video news' to include weather information, sports events and TV and movie trailers, as well as local or national news and financial news.  The findings show that most users think that it is important that news sites carry some news in video form.   The research suggests one third of those who participated would be willing to pay for some premium services, for example live broadcasting of special events.

'Trusted brands' behind these news services are important to these users and frequency of use is high.
