European Commission launches Digital Skills and Jobs Coalition

More initiatives to help meet the demand for digital skills.

The coalition, which includes member states, companies and other partners, aims to help meet Europe’s demand for digital skills.  The development of digital skills is important for citizens and business.

The coalition is just one of ten initiatives that fall into the New Skills Agenda for Europe.  By 2020, the combined initiatives will:

  • Train one million unemployed young people for vacant digital jobs
  • Support the upskilling and retraining of the workforce, with a particular focus on supporting SMEs
  • Offer students and teachers opportunity to use digital tools and materials in teaching/learning
  • Raise awareness of how critical digital skills are for competitiveness and employability
