England: national guidelines for public libraries

Second meeting of Libraries Task Force recommends creation of a national framework.

The Leadership for Libraries Task Force has agreed that national guidelines for England’s public libraries would be helpful in establishing what libraries should offer and how they are set up. Ed Vaizey, the UK’s Minister of State at the Department for Culture, Media and Sport and the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, has stated he is keen on the idea. The Task Force will recommend that a framework which focuses on actions should be established.

The Task Force also discussed the rollout of wife into all of England’s public libraries, a project which should be completed by March 2016.
