Elsevier in Germany: no deal reached

Publisher continues to offer uninterrupted access to paywalled content.


Approximately 200 German universities and institutes had not renewed their institutional Elsevier subscriptions by the end of 2017. Instead, they had formed a consortium which was seeking to negotiate a collective deal that would reduce the subscription price for each institution. No agreement has been reached.

Elsevier says it is planning to continue discussions in 2018.
