EU agency recommends action against hackers

Governments should set traps to catch hackers and identify security weaknesses.

The EU's cyber security agency ENISA (The European Network and Information Security Agency) has recommended that governments make more use of honeypots to catch hackers.

Honeypots can be used to attract hackers by offering fake resources and apparently important data.  The resources can be tagged and tracked and weaknesses in security systems identified.  They should however be used with caution.
