France has become the fifth European country (after Germany, Italy, Spain and the UK) to launch e-books on Google Play. Users can access the Google Play cloud via most devices including Android, PC and Mac.

Meanwhile in Spain, VAT on e-books has been raised to 21% while tax on print books has been maintained at the preferential 4% rate granted to 'cultural goods'.
