Dutch and Belgian newspapers explore shared paywall

Newspapers collaborating on shared payment system.

According to a report by Future of Copyright, newspaper publishers in the Netherlands are working together to create a joint payment system and shared database for news content.

In what is being described as 'a Spotify for newspapers', readers would be able to pull content from a variety of newspapers to customise their reading experience.   Similar moves are said to be taking place in Belgium.

Earlier this year, it was reported that Slovenia had followed Slovakia in the rollout of the Piano single payment system for online news content.
