American FactFinder closes

The Census Bureau's statistics and information search engine is being retired.

The US Census Bureau has announced that American FactFinder (AFF) is being retired after 20 years.

The move is part of the Census Bureau’s strategy of centralising data access via data.census.gov.

“By making data available from one centralized place, data users will spend less time searching for data and more time using it.”

The Census Bureau will continue to add features and capabilities. A series of webinars and training events have been designed to help users and to ensure a smooth transition to the new resource.

AFF will remain as an archive system until 2020.
