According to The Knowledge Academy, the most common incorrectly spelled words in Google searches are:
- Separate
- Zucchini
- Questionnaire
- Potato
- Diarrhoea
- Definitely
- Embarass
- Conscience
- Unnecessary
- Bureaucracy
- Manoeuvre
The team used Ahrefs to determine which words are most frequently misspelt. But note that these are British spellings and in some cases the American Engish spelling may be different.
The Knowledge Academy noted that, on average, there are 24,000 searches every month on "how to spell..." In a survey of 1,592 people, 64% used Alexa or Siri to find the correct spellings and 72% reported not owning a dictionary.
