UK: Search for the Library of the Year

The Bookseller and The Reading Agency are inviting submissions for the 2019 Library of the Year.

The Bookseller (the weekly magazine for the book trade) and The Reading Agency are looking for the best libraries in the UK.

The award is designed to celebrate libraries that support and foster reading and which are a vital presence in their local communities. The judges will be looking at the imaginative ways in which libraries have reached out to users, how they have made the most of resources, and how individual librarians have contributed to their library’s success.

The award is primarily aimed at professionally staffed libraries although there is a special commendation available for the best community/volunteer-run library.

The award is open to public, school, prison, academic and specialist libraries.

In the first instance, submissions of up to 1000 words are invited. A shortlist of ten libraries will be asked to create detailed case studies before the final awards are announced.
