The Internet Archive launches new music player

New features added to enhance the Internet Archive music experience.

The Internet Archive features over a million digital recordings including CDs, 78 RPM recordings and albums.

The new music player features samples of songs with embedded links to Spotify and YouTube versions. Listeners can click through from Archive.org to listen to the full track.

As streaming services gain popularity, the rich fountain of information found on album covers and CD liner notes is in danger of being lost. The Internet Archive seeks to fill that void by preserving the entire package that makes for a deeper musical experience. Album liner notes, CD booklets and paper labels have been digitised and lists of related music are included.

Users can find related music tracks – covers, other versions of the same song done by the same artist and compilations where that song has been used.
