France: Apple antitrust fine over $1 billion

France’s competition authority has fined Apple €1.1 billion (around $1.2 billion).

The record fine was imposed after Apple was found to have worked with two wholesalers (also fined) to fix prices for Apple’s products. The competition authority also found that Apple had subjected premium distributors to unfair commercial conditions.

It’s not the first time Apple has been fined by the French authority. ‘Batterygate’ saw the company fined after it deliberately slowed down its older iPhones.
