Researchers will gain easy access to visual resources through the Summon Service.

Seattle, Washington  ()

Serials Solutions, a business unit of ProQuest LLC, today announced an agreement with Bridgeman Education to enable discovery of Bridgeman's vast visual arts collection from the SummonTM service. Bridgeman's digital art collection provides a central source of fine art images for users and features content from more than 8,000 collections and more than 29,000 artists, representing a diverse archive of images from international museums, galleries and artists.

"Ensuring that our vast collection of visual and artistic materials is easily discovered and accessible for every user is one of our top priorities," said Pandora Mather-Lees, managing director of sales at Bridgeman Art Library. "We are pleased that our content is now available for researchers across the world through the Summon service, which has delivered proven value to libraries everywhere."

Many researchers rely on Bridgeman Education to provide the most accurate and relevant visual materials and references for their projects. With the SummonTM service, researchers will be able to easily discover imagery from the Bridgeman collection such as fine art, cultural and historical images spanning every subject, concept, style and medium. Bridgeman Education represents thousands of image suppliers including: artists, museums, galleries, libraries, institutions, universities, stately homes, auctioneers, photographers, picture libraries and private collections.

"As our long list of library customers continues to grow, so does the demand for a wider variety of content required for each of the libraries' specific users," said Mike Buschman, director of product management for the SummonTM service at Serials Solutions. "Whether a library caters to scientific researchers, medical researchers, artistic researchers and everything in between, they know their users need relevant information that is easily discoverable via the Summon service. We are proud to offer the most comprehensive discovery service available today."

The agreement with Bridgeman Education is the latest content announcement from Serials Solutions. More than 250 libraries worldwide subscribe to the SummonTM service because it provides a clear starting point for research, and consistently demonstrates a substantial increase in usage of library materials. Currently, the SummonTM service allows researchers to search the full text of content from more than 7,000 providers and contains more than 750 million records.
