Brill expands in Asia

The scholarly international publisher Brill establishes a representative office in Singapore and a sales liaison office in China.

Leiden (NL) / Boston (USA) / Singapore (SG)  ()

Brill has recently stepped up its activities in Asia as an area where they expect growth and increase in content acquisition. Asian markets are not unfamiliar territory for Brill, but it is for the first time that they have a physical presence in the form of a representative office in Singapore and a sales liaison office inside China.

The representation in Singapore is a first step in growing a physical presence in key markets in Asia. Chief Representative and Business Development Manager Asia, Mrs. Liesbeth Kanis, who is heading the new Singapore office, is confident about Brill's move: "It is absolutely vital to be close to our key markets and key contacts and build strong relationships. Brill has always had strong relations with Asia and now they also have the physical presence to support these. We are a listed company which has to carefully consider its resources. We are looking ahead to the future in taking this step confidently."

At the same time, it is clear that the different markets require a different approach. Therefore, Brill is choosing to collaborate with the Charlesworth Group to have a liaison office for sales and marketing activities inside China. This liaison office will work closely with the Sales Account Manager China based in the Brill office in Leiden in the Netherlands, who will regularly travel to China. For more information see the joint press release.

The representative office in Singapore will not take direct orders from Asian customers. Orders and customer service enquiries still need to go through our regular ordering channels:
Orders, enquiries, price quotations and trial requests for online resources: sales-nl@brill.com
Orders and availability requests for print publications: brill@turpin-distribution.com
All sales enquiries for online resources can be directed towards our new China liaison office at: china@brill.com
Other general enquiries or feedback, e.g. how to publish with Brill may be sent to the Singapore office: brillasia@brill.com

For more information on the Brill Representative Office in Singapore, please contact Mrs. Liesbeth Kanis (kanis@brill.com; mob: +65-8298 1548). For information about the collaboration with the Charlesworth Group in China, contact the International Sales Director, Mrs. Linda Empringham (empringham@brill.com).
