Switzerland: free internet in train stations

Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) is planning to equip 100 train stations with free WiFi.


Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) plans to make free internet access available in up to 100 stations by the end of 2015. The company is also aiming to improve mobile device reception on its trains, with up to 75% of mainline train carriages being upgraded to the latest reception equipment by the end of 2013.  All trains will have been upgraded by the end of 2014.  In addition, mobile operators will be expanding their 3G and 4G network alongside rail tracks.

According to SBB 'easy and stable access to mobile services' is a significant factor in customer satisfaction.
