EC to consult on the Internet of Things

The European Commission wants to explore the best possible framework to realise the potential benefits of the Internet of Things.

The EC wants to gather views on privacy, safety and security, security of IoT infrastructure, ethics, interoperability, governance and standards.  The results will feed into the Commission's Recommendation on the Internet of Things which will be presented by summer 2013.

The Internet of Things will see everyday object such as phones, cars - or even clothes and household appliances - wirelessly connected to the internet via smart chips enabling the collection and sharing of data.  Boosting the Internet of Things, and maximising it societal and economic benefits, is a priority of the Digital Agenda for Europe
