Norway has the fast internet in Europe; Brazil has become a key source of web app attacks.


Akamai’s latest State of the Internet/Connectivity report (2016 Q2) investigates global internet speeds and cloud security.

Meanwhile, there has been a 129% increase in DDoS attacks and a 14% increase in web application attacks.   57% of DDoS attacks targeted gaming companies and 26% targeted the software and technology industry

Brazil has become the major source of web application attacks (25%) followed by the US (23%).  However, the US is by far the largest target of these attacks (64%).

Retail is the sector most targeted by web app attacks (40%) because of the high value of the information on its databases. Attacks against the hotel and leisure industries have increased from Q1 but those against financial services and media and entertainment have dropped.
